Happened across another post on the hazards and merits of subtlety, this time from Elizabeth Bear.

This makes me feel a bit better about my grail-like quest for the perfect conveyance of information, but also rather sad in that I have never had that one reader, outside of myself. And of course it works for me, I wrote it.
