Too hot to file handle
Writing on the desktop machine isn't going to work out. It is just too prone to catastrophic crashes. I know better than to tax it too much or do too many things in quick succession, but it turns out that saving can be too much for it. Granted it was upwards of 80 degrees on Saturday, which I knew full well was rolling the dice. But the last thing I need is yet another excuse not to write.
Luckily it was only the backup copy, and also Textra makes a backup before saving anyway. So all was readily recovered. But it could just as easily have been the primary file, and the uncertainty would only distract me and make me save more often, which would tax the machine more.... Yeah. So I'm reduced to writing on the work/internet laptop, which has issues of its own and which I don't like for writing even when it is all working according to spec.

In spite of everything, however, I did finish the book! (Well, for novel definitions of "finished", of course.) Proper post on that when I get a chance; to add mockery to the mix, our home internet (and land line) got knocked out in the recent storms, so I'm accessing from the library again.
(I'm choosing to be amused, because screaming would just hurt my throat.)

Epic congratulations on finishing your book despite all that! Even if there are still revisions to do, finishing is a huge step.

Thanks!
