Go, writer, go.
Friday, October 15th, 2010 02:40 pmI don't really do New Year's resolutions, but I did have two unofficial goals for this year: finish the novel, and submit something for professional publication. It didn't have to actually get published, though that would certainly be nice; I just had to make the attempt.
Check. And... check.
Writing the cover letter (required by my first-choice market) was considerably harder than writing the story it went with. I think it's a law of physics that you can't complete one of those things without sounding like a pratt. But it's done, and as of this morning letter and story both are in the mail.
I haven't submitted anything to a real, printed-on-paper, we-pay-money-for-this publication since I was a teenager. Even though I'm probably just going to collect my first adult rejection slip (and that likely not for several months), I'm feeling a bit giddy.
