Feeling overwhelmed by the to-do list as usual, so I decided to just write everything else off for this week, and set the days aside for taking the cat to the vet, taking the car to the mechanic, and especially doing my taxes. Yep, just that; gonna focus on that and get it taken care of and not melt myself down trying to do seventeen things at once. Good plan.

And then I checked my email. What was that, like 20 seconds?

There's a thing I wasn't expecting to have to deal with until late May, and now I have to fit it in this week. And it's just a phone call, but it's a pretty big deal and I'm going to have to do a lot of prep for it, both practical and mental/emotional. And gawd, I just want to curl up with my tax forms and not deal with anything else, and instead I'm gonna have to fucking adult and I just don't wanna.

This always happens when I set aside a chunk of time to Just Do This. It's like blocking out the time creates a magnetic field that attracts other obligations. I wanna hide in a Faraday cage for time management.

My nose has been running non-stop since I started this morning. Argh!

Feds are done. I'm going to take a break and eat something, then check everything. And then probably take a nice longer break before starting the state.

ETA: State is done too, and everything's checked and signed and copied and stamped. Done, done, bwahahahaha!

Also, my nose has stopped running.

Well, the taxes are done. (Mine, that is, not the convention's.) Yes, I know there's extensions, but I'd have to do them sooner or later anyway, and I am just congenitally incapable of not getting my taxes done by April 15. (I don't know if there's an extension for organizational taxes, but since the one tiny form we have to file has literally no penalties for late filing, I'm choosing to Not Care.) I am taking advantage of the extensions by not taking my completed taxes to the post office today, because... I don't wanna, is what it boils down to.

This entirely unexciting post brought to you by I Have Done Enough Adulting For One Day, Dang It. Except that I really should go water the plants now.

So, according to IRS Pub. 525, it seems that the prizes from the ISFiC Writers Contest go on the 1040 as "other income", and not as business income from writing. This is rather discouraging; I was looking forward to having actual income on my writing Schedule C, not just expenses!

Ah, well. Next year, eh?
