August & September Word Counts

I sort of forgot about this last month. So, what happened while I wasn't looking?

the new novel: 5072
assorted old-mission stories: 1143
Total new words in August: 6215

Woot! Target was 5000 words, and I hit that even without counting the non-novel stuff.

And this month?

the new novel: 6530
assorted old-mission stories: 172
total: 6702

Double woot! Now that's more like it.

That 6530 includes about 1300 words that I'd written previously and tucked away in storage; I wasn't sure if I should count them (and therefore really pleased that I topped 5000 even without them), but given how much work I ended up having to put in to making them fit, I think it's a fair cop.

I think this just might be what real writing looks like.... ;-)
