Social media: For when you're not actually very social

Feeling like more engagement with my fellow writers today, so spent the afternoon hunting up websites/blogs/whatever of various cool people I miss from 4th Street and bookmarking them. Didn't actually go so far as to contact anybody, but at least I have the list for future use (or browsing and non-use, as the case may be).

(Not sure I should ever read anybody's Twitter feed, but that's another matter.)

If any of said people are reading this and are better at flipping the "outgoing" switch than I am today, FYI, comments are welcome.

I went to Fourth Street once. Waaaayyyy back when I lived in Saint Paul. (Let's see, daughter 3 was born in Saint Paul, and her birthday is 1996. So about twenty years ago. :)

I was only ever there once, though, so I'm pretty darn sure I don't qualify as one of the cool people you miss. I really liked it, mind you, but smoke was an issue, and then I moved away anyway.

I'm not all that great at this "outgoing" thingy, myself. Last time I was on Dreamwidth I went to post comments on three different posts, and then changed my mind and decided nobody wanted to here what I had to say on the subject and clicked away without replying. ::rueful::

Sounds like you went to the first incarnation of 4th Street. It stopped for a while, then reincarnated under a combination of new+old management, which is the version I knew. And loved, until recently.

I understand whereof you speak; I have to make a real effort to engage (& stay engaged) with people, and it's not always a successful effort. But if I want to have people to talk to, I figure it behooves me to talk to people, eh?
