Finally got to see RED 2 this past weekend. (And after working 26 hours in two days, finally got a chance to post about it. I've been gone so much lately, I feel like I've been on a trip, not just at a job.) Not as much fun as the first one, got off to a rocky start in some respects, but they pulled it out at the end. My primary emotion is a warm glow that some movie somewhere knows that a SIG doesn't have an external safety. ;-)

And then there's this. I reserve the right to edit this when the movie comes out on DVD and I can check the scene it's attached to -- unless it turns out to be an actual deleted scene. My brain is so convinced this happened that I had to write it down to remind myself I didn't actually see it.

Title: Best Present Ever
Fandom: RED 2
Summary: "My gun!"
Word Count: ~285
Spoilers: for RED & RED 2, obviously

Best Present Ever

As the fire of the explosion faded into a kind of freakish artificial sunset, Frank's hold only tightened. This time, Sarah didn't mind; a little overprotectiveness sounded just about right, after all that. She hung on pretty tightly, herself.

When they finally broke for air, she said in his ear, "Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

"Actually..." he fished under the edge of his jacket for a moment, "I am happy to see you," punctuated with another kiss, "but I also saved this, back at the Embassy." Looking a little sheepish, he handed over the lump that actually had been poking her in the side.

"My gun!" She hugged him, and looked at it, and hugged him again. The ridiculously over-the-top pearl handle was smudged, and the gold inlay of her initials was oddly dented, but it seemed all right otherwise. She hugged him a third time; she'd almost felt worse about losing the gun -- best present he'd ever given her -- than she had about getting taking hostage. Almost. "Is that a bullet scratch?"

"It got a little dinged up," he admitted. "But I'll get it fixed up. It'll be good as new. You'll see."

"Nah." She tilted it, watching the angry red light glint in the flattened curve of the 'R', the near-miss gouge in the pearl. "I like it this way." Her arm tightened around his waist, careful of what were probably a couple of broken ribs. "It proves it's not just a toy on a shelf, y'know?"

He kissed the top of her head. "Yeah. I know."
