Queryitis: Downturn

I totally blew the last seven-days' querying target. Just plain forgot about it. Yes, there was a con in there, and I may have been just a wee bit distracted, but there were also plenty of days that weren't con. And then just as I was gearing up to play catch-up and get some other submissatory work done while I was at it, the power went out. Having a laptop that can run on battery is of limited usefulness if the internet connection needs juice. (That was one advantage of dial-up, back in the day.)
But now the power is back on (we have heat! and light! and running water! and all manner of fine things), and if it warms up enough later today I will open some windows upstairs and air out the overwhelming smell of smoke from the fireplace. (Lovely things, fireplaces, but when you keep one going non-stop for a day and a half, it does rather permeate. I slept downstairs on the couch last night to keep away from the smell. Luckily it is an excellent sleeping couch; I'm tempted to sleep there more often.) And I can get to work on all those things I thought of doing while the power was out, all of which seemed much more appealing while I couldn't do them, of course. ;->
